Raquel Maciel

Born and raised in southern Brazil, Raquel Maciel moved to Canada with her two kids a few years ago. Her love for nature as a kid made her pursue a career in science. But her career as a biologist didn't last long. After taking some classes in scientific illustration, she quickly discovered her true passion. Through her connections in the scientific field, it didn't take long for her to start illustrating for scientific publications. Eventually her interests broaden, taking a more artistic and creative approach. To master the digital aspect of her business, Raquel felt the necessity of going back to school, this time to study graphic design. Influenced by vintage Victorian children's books and folk art, now Raquel dives into the commercial side of art.
